This month, earlier in the National Assembly, Godongwana made the announcement.
In 2024/25, the government allocates R33.6 billion to the COVID‐19 Social Relief of Distress Grant, with provisional allocations for 2025/26 and 2026/27.
With the exception of those receiving the COVID-19 SRD Grant, National Treasury projects that the number of grant beneficiaries will rise from 18.8 million in 2023/24 to 19.7 million in 2026/27.
